Board and committee applicants must be active AAP member (Diplomate, Early Career, Health Professional/Researcher, Emeritus, Distinguished, International) and remain a member for the duration of the term of service. Join or renew here.

Board Member Requirements

  • Serve a 2-year term – Most are renewable for one additional term
  • Secretary/Treasurer moves automatically into line to become President and serves 2-year terms at each position
  • Meet monthly by conference call and twice a year in person
  • Board member volunteers should previously have been a member of an AAP Committee, Council or Task Force
  • Service as a Chair or leadership role is preferred, but not required.

Committee Chair Requirements

  • Serve a 2-year term – Renewable one time
  • Lead 6-12 committee meetings per year via conference call and in person at the AAP’s Annual Meeting
  • As a member of the Advisory Committee, meet at least 6 times a year by conference call and twice a year in person
  • Occasional project work outside of the committee meetings
