The Rehabilitation Research Experience for Medical Students (RREMS) program is now accepting interest form submissions for the upcoming application cycle.

The interest form is not the full application but serves as the first step in the process, allowing the AAP to connect interested students with available site sponsors.

Once matched, students will collaborate with their assigned mentors to develop a research proposal for the full RREMS application. Be sure to review the application information and list of available site sponsors carefully.

Important Reminders

You must be an active member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP) to participate in RREMS. Join/Renew Here

Consider your selections carefully. Select four different sites to maximize your application options.

Please confirm that you have 8 consecutive weeks available to participate in the program. If your break is less than 8 weeks, attach a letter from your medical school confirming that you can participate for the full time.

Do not commit to a mentor/site at this time.

Completion of this Interest Form DOES NOT indicate acceptance and funding through the RREMS program. A research proposal and full application are required for funding consideration. Funding and mentors are limited.

The full application including the Research Proposal and other materials is due January 31, 2027.
