The AAP is now accepting applications for the 2026 Leadership in Medical Education (LIME) Class.
LIME will consist of interactive, in-person, hands-on educational workshops (3) with small group activities, discussions, and reflections, supported by virtual quarterly meetings, and culminating in a capstone education-focused project. LIME is organized around three primary themes and each workshop will explore topics related to a theme. LIME participants are expected to attend three in-person meetings during their participation in the program.
Participants starting in 2026 will have the following schedule:
AAP Annual Meeting 2027 (February 16 – 20, Long Beach, CA)
AAP Annual Meeting 2028
Candidates for the program must:
Be an active member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP)
Recommended for full-time faculty member with a minimum of 2 years (but not more than 8 years) experience post residency/ fellowship at the time of application
Have demonstrated the desire and ability to assume an education leadership role in their department, institution or the specialty of physiatry
Attend the LIME course during each of three meetings over 18 months
Plan and complete a Capstone Project at their institution
Applications materials:
Candidates must be nominated by their PM&R academic department, division chair or chair equivalent. If the institution has no PM&R department or division, then a nomination can also come from a member of the AAP Board of Trustees or AAP Committee Chair in addition to their current Chair (non-PM&R). The nomination letter (1-2 pages) should discuss the candidate’s past achievements, current activities, and potential for future academic and education success. Applications will not be considered without this nomination letter.
