Why Get Involved?
When you share your time and talents with the AAP, you are filling a vital need for resources and support available to physiatrists, building your network and CV, and creating a stronger workforce and specialty. Our work is possible because of people like you and the impact you have on the academic physiatry community.
We offer leadership opportunities and the chance to make a difference in academic physiatry. Each summer, we recruit new members to serve on our Board of Trustees and Committees. AAP's councils are open to new members year-round.
AAP's councils and committees are involved in
- Planning and directing courses at the AAP Annual Meeting
- Developing educational materials and resources for our members
- Mentoring students, in training members and peers
- Supporting colleagues through collaboration and idea-sharing
- Tackling public policy and international issues affecting academic physiatry
Current opportunities include:
- Committee & Subcommittee Members
- Board of Trustees & Committee Chair Positions
- Physiatry Foundation Advisory Bureau (FAB)
- AAP Regenerative Rehabilitation Consortium (ARRC)
- Pediatric Rehabilitation Academic Medicine Group
- Abstract Reviewers
- Mentors
- Speakers Bureau
- And more!
