50th Anniversary

2017 marks AAP's 50th Anniversary! Ernest Johnson, MD along with a group of physiatric leaders started the AAP in 1967 and what would become 50 years of improving research and education in physiatry. Join the celebration as AAP looks back on the past 50 years and forward to the next half-century!

Discounted room rates are reserved for AAP 2017 attendees at the Delano Hotel and the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. AAP 2017 hotels offer attendees unparalleled views, unique restaurants, 30+ bars, entertainment, and casino games. Complimentary wifi and access to the fitness center are included with all hotel reservations.

More Than Just a Game: The Public Health Impact of Sports and Physical Activity for People with Disabilities

Cheri Blauwet, MD

Chair of the International Paralympic Committee Medical Commission and seven-time Paralympic medalist, Dr. Cheri Blauwet is acutely aware of the impact that sport and physical activity can have on individuals with disabilities, from the weekend warrior to the elite athlete. Dr. Blauwet's work as a faculty member at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School has been pivotal in promoting opportunities for athletes across the globe, resulting in her recognition by the United Nations and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where she serves as a member of the Medical and Scientific Expert Group.
