Welcome, PM&R Resident Rock Stars!

We know that leadership opportunities in the RFC are limited, so we created even more opportunities for you to serve! The Resident/Fellow Council (RFC) is seeking motivated in-training physiatrists to join our subcouncils. Participating in the RFC will allow you to develop a national network and reputation by working alongside the current RFC leadership on issues affecting the field, advocating and developing resources for PM&R trainees.

Members of the RFC subcouncils aid the RFC leadership in planning educational and networking sessions for the AAP’s Annual Meeting, creating year-round connections and resources, and much more.

Things to Know Before Applying

• Each position is a one-year term
• You must be a resident or fellow by the start of the upcoming academic year (July 2026)
• All applicants must be active AAP members to be considered
• Elections will take place online
• The deadline for submission is Sunday, May 29, 2026 at 11:59PM ET.

Position Descriptions

Technology Subcouncil
Generates and publishes podcasts on a variety of interesting topics for AAP members, from interviews with Department Chairs and tips on applying to fellowship to hot topics in the field (and everything in between!)

Research & QI Subcouncil
Progresses translational and clinical research opportunities and supports the research endeavors of young PM&R professionals through toolkits, podcasts, grand rounds, and mentoring

Social Media & Digital Outreach Subcouncil
Maintains the AAP’s social media channels by creating and posting content on the different programs and initiatives within the AAP, innovations in the field, and unique member spotlights

Education/Well-Being Subcouncil
Raises awareness about the importance of well-being and burnout prevention through “Words of Wellness” in each issue of Physiatry Forward (the AAP’s member magazine), the AAP’s website, social media posts (“Wellness Wednesdays”), virtual events (Annual Fitness Challenge, Book Club), and more!
