Nominees must be enrolled in a residency or fellowship program at the time of the appointment and may not serve more than one year beyond completion of residency or fellowship. The term of the resident member is two years. Upon completion of a two-year term, the resident member may not be appointed again to the same RC. Resident members may not serve on two RCs simultaneously. An RC can have up to two members from the same state, but they cannot be from the same institution and preferably not from the same city/metropolitan area. Individuals should not be nominated from the following institutions:

The resident member of the RC participates as a full voting member in all RC activities, including program review and policy discussion. Resident members must be able to devote an estimated 20 hours to program review before each RC meeting. The resident is also a member of the ACGME Council of Review Committee Residents (CRCR). The CRCR meets twice a year. Additional meeting information for both the RC and CRCR can be found below. A letter of support from the program director ensuring that they will have sufficient time to review programs, attend RC and CRCR meetings, and participate in activities of the committee and the ACGME.
If a nominee is in his/her final year of residency and is planning to enter fellowship, a letter of support from the fellowship program director must also be provided.
