Residency & Fellowship Program Directors

Welcome!

The AAP's Residency & Fellowship Directors (RFPD) Council is a group of Residency Program Directors, Fellowship Program Directors and Co-Directors of an ACGME-approved PM&R program. Does that sound like you? If you are an active AAP member, then this community is here as your resource!

Our mission is to work with the AAP and each other to create the future of academic physiatry through mentorship, leadership and discovery. The council offers opportunities for Program Directors to communicate important information, generate ideas, alert the appropriate people to critical issues and provide collegial support. We hope you'll get active in our community.

Every year at the AAP's Annual Meeting, the RFPD puts together a pre-conference workshop that keeps Program Directors coming back year-after-year. Here's a sneak peek at how we connected, shared and learned at Physiatry '19 in Puerto Rico. Join us next year for even more, March 4-9, 2020 in Orlando, FL!

The PM&R Program Directors Toolkit

We are excited to share the core set of PM&R-specific Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and Observable Practice Activities (OPAs) that were developed and validated through a special task force of the AAP's Education Committee. Entrustable Professional Activities EPAs have been adopted by a variety of specialties for the purpose of real-time observational assessment of clinical competency in a manner that makes intuitive sense and is feasible within the workplace environment. OPAs are a collection of learning objectives as activities that must be observed in daily practice in order to form entrustment decisions.

The PM&R Milestones Task Force has collected tools that will help assess milestones. These tools are designed to serve as examples for you in creating your own. Contributions are available for download and tools can be uploaded to share with peers on the AAP's website for PM&R Program Directors and Program Coordinators.
