Steven Kirshblum, MD, is chief medical officer of Kessler Foundation and is a nationally recognized expert in spinal cord injury rehabilitation and research. He co-directs the Foundation’s Tim and Caroline Reynolds Center for Spinal Stimulation, the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Research, and the Derfner-Lieberman Laboratory for Regenerative Rehabilitation Research. Dr. Kirshblum oversees spinal cord injury research and its translation to patient care as project co-director of the Northern New Jersey Spinal Cord Injury Model System, one of only 18 federally designated centers in the country. He chairs the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and is program director for the Spinal Cord Injury Medicine Fellowship Program.
