Speaker Video Preview
Share |

You know the old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”, well at AAP were taking it up a notch and saying that “A video is worth a million words”.  While only 20% of people will read all the content on a website, about 80% of people will watch a 1 minute video in its entirety.

As one of our presenters, it's important to promote your individual session.  As part of the promotion, we’re requesting each speaker create a 60 second informal video to accompany your biography and session description on our website.  The video, can be done easily and quickly on a cell phone or laptop.

This video is an opportunity to showcase your personality, explains what your presentation is going to be about, and entices viewers to want to come out and see you.

Your 60 second session preview should include:

-A brief introduction about yourself explaining your expertise

-A very brief mention of the title and topic

-Three words that would describe your presentation best

video preview guidelines

  •  Length: 60 seconds or less
  • Content: Who you are/What your presentation is about/Three words to best describe your speech
  • Avoid: Saying the date and time of your session, this could possibly change
  • Note: Feel free to make it your own by inserting your personality or humor
  • Deadline: November 4, 2017
  • Upload To: Speaker Portal

Be aware of your surroundings:  Make sure that you have an appropriate background.

Floating Head Syndrome: Beware of having the camera too close to you, causing your head to appear to be floating.  Make sure that your shoulders and chest are also showing in your video.

Noise Control:  Speak as if you normally would.  Your computer has microphones that will be able to pick up what you are saying normally.

Tick Tick Click:  Try to find a quiet place where there are no constant clickings or tickings.  You computer microphone will pick this up as well and be distracting to listeners.

Show your personality: Make your video message memorable by putting your own personal flare on what you say and how you say it.  That’s the beauty of creating a video message.

Prepare, Practice, and then Go Off Script:  This is your preview for your presentation.  If you are seen reading from a piece of paper, you would not be perceived as the great presenter that you are.  Prepare what you are going to say, practice it out-loud, and then speak excitedly,  knowledgeably and confidently about your upcoming speech without the script in your hand.
