Update on the AAMCE Efforts Addressing the Needs of People with Disability

Program Director: Nethra Ankam, MD

  1. Become aware of efforts at the national level to recruit more people with disabilities as physicians.
  2. Understand technical standards that may act as barriers to medical school.
  3. Discuss innovative ideas for amending technical standards to allow for people with disabilities to enter medical school.
  4. Discuss options for inserting curriculum into medical schools to improve medical student awareness of the issues of patients with disabilities.
