As a provider accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), AAP must ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in all of its sponsored educational activities. In accordance with ACCME’s Standards for Commercial Support, AAP is required to disclose to the activity audience the relevant financial relationships of the planners, faculty, and any other individual in a position to control the content of this activity.

An individual has a relevant financial relationship if he or she (or spouse/partner) has a financial relationship in any amount occurring in the last 12 months with a commercial interest whose health care goods or services consumed by or used on patients are discussed in the CME activity content over which the individual has control. Financial relationships are those relationships in which the individual benefits by receiving a salary, royalty, intellectual property rights, consulting fee, honoraria, ownership interest (e.g., stocks, stock options, or other ownership interest, excluding diversified mutual funds), or other financial benefit. Financial benefits are typically associated with roles such as employment, management position, independent contractor (including contracted research), consulting, speaking and teaching, membership on advisory committees or review panels, board membership, and other activities from which remuneration is received or expected.

Listed below are the relevant financial disclosures for all individuals in control of content. All conflicts of interest have been resolved in accordance with ACCME Standards for Commercial Support.  Journal editors, board members, and any other individuals in control of content that have indicated that they have no relevant financial relationships to disclose for this activity are also listed below.

I work as an academic physician and administrator.  In this context, I receive or have received funds from a variety of entities, including Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Josephs Hospital Hamilton,  McMaster University, Ontario Health Insurance Program, Workers Compensation Board, private health insurance carriers, legal firms, and motor vehicle insurance carriers (indirectly).

As own stocks in publicly traded firms (directly as well as via mutual funds).

The hospital has received funds from a variety of sources. Of particular note, Allergan has provided approximately  $150,000 to the department to support a key clinical program. I also advise the regulator/payer on matters related to rehabilitation services at a regional and provisional level.

My wife works as a pharmacist at the Juravinski Cancer Center, and I am not cognizant of all of her potential conflicts.
