AAP Action Time

Inaction takes zero effort and zero energy and the results?  Nothing.

With less than 5 minutes of effort, you can help pass legislation that will affect thousands of lives.

How can you help?

Contact your members of Congress.  It is quick and easy to find their email address at http://www.contactingthecongress.org/.

What should you say?

Messages do not have to be lengthy.  Let them know that you are a constituent and that you would like them to support specific legislation.  Feel free to cut and past the messages below to your Senators and Representative.

Message for Senators:

Please co-sponsor S. 800 a bill to improve, coordinate and enhance medical rehabilitation at the National Institute of Health (NIH).  The bill includes many of the recommendations made by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Medical Rehabilitation Research established by the NIH in December 2012.  The bill enhances coordination within NIH and other agencies, provides for an annual progress report, and creates a research conference or workshop.

Please co-sponsor S. 800.  I work on the front lines working with individuals to improve to their quality of life.  I need your help so together we can reach more people.

Message for Representative:

What now?

Please let us know if you are able to send quick emails.  Let us know if you hear back.  Ask members of your staff to send emails as well.

Feel strongly about this issue?  Instead of emails, make a telephone call.  A staff person at the member’s office will make a note that you called.

Another option is volunteering for the Public Policy Committee.  Volunteer applications are now being accepted to serve on the committee (http://www.physiatry.org/?VolunteerAAP).
