Rehabilitation Research Experience for Medical Students (RREMS)

Medical Student Application Instructions

Please read these instructions carefully. Click on the link to the Online Application or scroll down to access the form.

Then complete the Online Application form.

Include the following documents in the the application package in the stated order:

1. Research Plan

  • Each student must make contact with designated persons at sponsor sites and devise a 3 page proposal (excluding references) after communicating with an approved mentor.
  • Proposal must be single spaced in Times New Roman 12 point font and contain the following information:
    • Title
    • Background including importance of the proposed work
    • Methods
    • Specific Aims and Hypotheses
    • Analysis Plan
    • Expected Results and Rationale
    • References

2. CV or Resume

  • Students should submit a curriculum vitae including prior degrees and institutions attended.

3. NIH Bio-sketch

  • An NIH Bio-sketch for the faculty mentor must be provided.

4. Personal Statement

  • Students may submit a one page personal statement explaining interest in research, clinical exposure that may be available or any other information that may be relevant.

5. Letter of recommendation

  • Letters of recommendation (up to 2) are acceptable but not required. Letter(s) should be submitted electronically with your application.

6. Additional materials

  • If a research project involves something that is potentially patentable, licensable, or copy right worthy, the faculty mentor and student are encouraged to work with their local technology transfer office as well as the RREMS to generate a dissemination plan that will meet the needs of the program without compromising the commercial potential of the research. Please notify us in advance if this is anticipated.

Scan or combine all materials in the above order into a single .pdf file. Name them in the following way: SmithM_2016.

Online Application

Please submit all requested materials saved together as a singled PDF. Must include your Research Plan, CV or Resume, NIH Bio-sketch for your faculty mentor, and the following optional materials, a one-page Personal Statement and up to two Letters of Reference.
