PM&R Milestones Central
The PM&R Milestones Workgroups are requesting tools that will help assess milestones. The tools that you provide as examples will be reviewed and modified based on the drafts of the milestones that will soon be available.
Your contributions are collected in this central location on the AAP website and are available for all Program Directors and Program Coordinators to review.
If you have a tool in one or more of the following file library categories, please upload a document (the site supports most formats). The tool will be helpful if it assesses one of the categories below in a general way OR a specific area (i.e. SCI, BI, Stroke, Peds, Amputation, Neuromuscular, MSK, Pain, Spasticity).
To add a resource directly to the site, please make sure you are logged in as an AAP member. CLICK HERE to log in. If you are not an AAP member and wish to contribute, please e-mail Bernadette Rensing (brensing@physiatry.org).

AAP Session @ AAPM&R: ACGME Next Accreditation System and Strategies AUDIENCE: This course is designed for PM&R department chairs, program directors, fellowship directors, residency coordinators, and physicians engaged in teaching. DESCRIPTION: Representatives from university and private programs from across the country will share how their programs will be planning and executing their Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), including the specific evaluation tools that the individual programs plan to utilize. There will be a forum discussion at the end of each presentation session to share ideas and comments. With the ACGME’s timeline for CCC reporting set for December 2014, this is the perfect timing to have a forum discussion in preparation of each program’s CCC meeting in November. If you have not had the opportunity to plan out your CCC meeting nor created your evaluation tools, you will receive excellent ideas by participating in this session.

A little while ago you requested learning tools that we use that our evaluations could be based on. Dr. Means and I discussed this and one of the tools we use is listed in Chapter 18 of the book, Team-Based Learning for Health Professions Education. A Guide to Using Small Groups for Improving Learning . Chapter title is “Reinvigorating a Residency Program Through Team-Based Learning” pgs 203-213. Chapter written by Michael E> Petty and Kevin M. Means. Book edited by Larry K. Michaelsen, Dean X. Parmelee, Kathryn K. McMahon, and Ruth E. Levine.
Hope that helps!

I make them do the attached self-assessment (although the literature is divided on whether doctors can really self-assess) as well as peer evaluations (struggled a bit with the formatting…but at least you can see the questions).

We address trainee professionalism in a variety of ways. Two evaluation tools that we use include the P-MEX and the 360-degree evaluation which I’ve attached. I’ve also attached a description of the other methods we use. Please let me know if there is anything else we can provide!
