  • The AAP has established special interest councils to stimulate, promote and coordinate the unique concerns of special interest groups within the Association.

The general purpose of a council is to provide a forum in which ideas of potential interest to the AAP and of specific interest to the council can be discussed. The AAP website provides a private platform for council members to participate in discussion forums, share resources such videos, podcasts, and documents, collaborate on projects and more.

Membership in the council is restricted to AAP members who, by virtue of position or status in training, qualify for membership in the council.
  • Committees »

  • The AAP has a number standing committees comprised of volunteer members. Each committee has a specific set of responsibilities and goals, and is involved in various activities to support and enhance academic PM&R.

Members are expected to attend committee meeting and conference calls and should assist in completing objectives by accepting task assignments and meeting deadlines.

To express interest in joining a committee, please visit Membership > Committees > Participate.

  • The AAP sponsors and supports various PM&R education and research focused programs.

Program participants can access important group information, participate in discussion forums, and collaborate on projects though the AAP online communities.
  • RMSTP »

  • The Rehabilitation Medicine Scientist Training Program (RMSTP) provides research training, mentorship and career development support for those physiatrists committed to developing productive careers in academic medicine and research. The ultimate aim of the RMSTP is to increase the number of rigorously trained, extramurally competitive and scientifically productive faculty members in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) departments, who can contribute to the continued development of physiatric research specifically and rehabilitation science in general.
