"The purpose of the AAP is to advance academic physiatry by providing leading edge programs, products, and services"

The Residency Training Directory was first published in 1985 to serve the medical student or physician who has decided to pursue a career in PM&R. Since only 57% of the US medical schools had identifiable PM&R departments or divisions at that time, most medical students did not have accessibility to good information about PM&R residency programs. The RTD has expanded beyond the detailed information about every PM&R training program in the U.S. to include application, electives, and fellowship information among others.

FOREWORD

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is an exciting and rapidly growing specialty. This has been demonstrated by the significant increase in medical students applying for PM&R residency positions.

The purpose of this publication is to assist medical students and other physicians who have decided to pursue a career in PM&R. Along with the directory of accredited residencies, there is a listing of fellowships and resident electives in PM&R. Additional information describes the major organizations in the field and how to apply for residency. Also included are materials from the ABPMR and a selected reading list for the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The Association of Academic Physiatrists assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided by each individual program. This publication is updated annually in March. Please check with the individual programs for the
