This statement discloses the privacy practices for the Association of Academic Physiatrists. We have designed www.physiatry.org so that no personal identifying information is displayed online or is accessible to the general public. Because we want to show our commitment to your privacy, we have agreed to disclose our practices. These include:
  • What information we gather/track
  • How we use or may use the information
  • With whom (if anyone) we share the information
  • Our policy regarding children who may visit our site

Our Privacy Statement

This statement discloses the privacy practices for the Association of Academic Physiatrists.

The Public Web Site:
We have designed the public area of www.physiatry.org so that no personal identifying information is displayed online or is accessible to the general public except for our "Search for a Physiatrist" page where the public can search for the closest physiatrist in their area.

The Private Members Only Web Site:
We have designed our private "members only area" so that no personal identifying information is displayed online or is accessible to the general public. The public never has access to this area. Portions of personal identifying information of an Association of Academic Physiatrists member may be shared in the the private "member only area" ONLY with other Association of Academic Physiatrists members. Information gathered and stored is shared in the private "members only area" through our member news, member conferencing, committee lists, surveys, member event information or member lookups in our online directory. Only a member's professional contact information gathered and stored in our private "members area" is shared with other members. At times a member's "preferred address" may be licensed to qualified advertising affiliates.

The Information We Gather

The Association of Academic Physiatrists collects and stores some or all of the following information about our members: name; email address; and billing information, contact information such as address, phone, city, state, postal code. We also receive and may store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many Web sites, we sometimes use "cookies", and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses www.physiatry.org.

In order to tailor our subsequent communications to you and continuously improve our membership services, the Association of Academic Physiatrists may also ask you to provide us with updated information regarding your personal or professional qualifications, demographics, professional experience, and more detailed contact preferences. You, as a member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists member have the option of choosing not to provide us with this information online, you can fax, mail or phone the information to our offices instead.

The Use of Data

The Association of Academic Physiatrists uses your information to better understand your needs and provide you with better customer service and membership benefits. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, including fulfillment of dues updates, to communicate back to you, to update you on new services and benefits, to personalize our web site. All credit card numbers are used for payment processing and are securely encrypted on our servers until they are no longer needed and all credit card information sent to us using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) web browser connection.

Web Site Applications

Certain online applications may store some components on your hard drive or in your browser's cache directory. This is up to each user's browser settings. We have no access to this information. The information stored in your cache directory is your own responsibility to control, protect or erase.

Use of Your Email Address

If you provide us with your email we may occasionally send you email with notices of new benefits, dues prices, or updated membership services. This email will not include paid advertisements from any third parties. These emails are a considered a benefit of your membership with the Association of Academic Physiatrists only.

Who We Can Share It With

The Association of Academic Physiatrists will not sell any "personally identifiable" information to others unless we have your permission or are required to do so by law. Any third party affiliates will have to comply with their own privacy policies with regard to the sharing of your information. Third party advertisers affiliated with the Association of Academic Physiatrists, may lease the our current member preferred mailing address list so that they can send "office approved" information about their services or products. We however DO NOT disclose your email address, account password, or any transaction history to any third party affiliates. We only disclose your "preferred mailing address" to an advertiser for a one-time-mailing of the services or products that they offer. They are forbidden by law to sell or reuse the "preferred mailing address" list that we lease to them for a one-time-use.

Affiliates

If a member, school, company or organization is a www.physiatry.org affiliate, they may share personally identifiable information about with www.physiatry.org for the benefit of our membership services and benefits. This information is not sold, shared, or rented to any other third party, and is used internally only to manage and maintain relationships with affiliates of the Association of Academic Physiatrists.

www.physiatry.org may contain links to other Web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are going to ANOTHER Web site. The Association of Academic Physiatrists encourages you to read the privacy statements of these other sites, as their privacy policies may differ from ours.

Cookies

www.physiatry.org uses software tags called "cookies" to identify customers when they visit our site. Cookies are used to remember user preferences and maximize performance of our services. Additionally, cookies help us to identify returning users so that we don't ask them to enter their email and/or password with every visit. The information we collect with cookies is not sold, rented, or shared with any outside parties. We cannot remember the site's user preferences, maximize performance to users whose browsers are set to reject cookies. We may allow advertisers to set cookies in www.physiatry.org visitors' browsers. www.physiatry.org does not require that users accept cookies from any advertiser in order to access our web pages or any services. The Association of Academic Physiatrists does not and will not have access to the information contained in advertisers' cookies.

Log Files

The Association of Academic Physiatrists maintains log files of the traffic that visits the www.physiatry.org site. We do not link any information gathered in these log files to personally identifying information. Log files are used to manage traffic loads and information technology requirements for providing reliable service. Information collected includes IP addresses and browser types.

Contact Form and other Feedback

The Association of Academic Physiatrists collects user feedback. We may not respond to all user feedback in the form of an email. We may display testimonials that appear on the site from our feedback form or other sources, but only after we have obtained permission from the sender of the testimonial. We read ALL of our customer service queries and use the information contained therein only to resolve the question at hand.

What Information Is Collected?

It's our policy to create web site content that requires no collection of information from children visiting our site. The Association of Academic Physiatrists does not offer any child's participation in any of our online services.

Information Security

All information gathered on the The Association of Academic Physiatrists web site is stored and maintained in secure facilities that limit access to authorized personnel only. This personnel can only access the information through a series of access-control procedures. All Association of Academic Physiatrists employees are briefed about the company's online privacy and security policies on a regular basis. The Association of Academic Physiatrists Web site is regularly tested for security breaches to ensure that all information collected is secure from unauthorized viewing.

Notification of Changes

If we change our privacy policy, we will post a notice on our site so our users are aware of the change in what information we collect, how we use it, and/or under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify all AAP members by email. Our members will have a choice as to whether or not we use their previously submitted information in this different manner. AAP members may choose to have their information used in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
